Who is the decoupage man in the middle? Sean Connery? Obi-wan Kenobi? My Italian friends nearly went into a state of conniption when I asked.
"NO!!! He is Padre Pio da Pietrelcina, one the most famous Fathers."
"Oh, I see. Like, Luke, I am your Father."
"NO! Shhh!!!!"
"Bond. James Bond."
"Stupid American."
"Sean looks really good for his age. Oh baby."
"Oh, mio dio."
So, I'm in Italy. What have I been up to?
Friday: I arrived in Italy. My sister and I did a little shopping, and then we went to the doctor. My sister is pregnant with her third child and third son. I had the honor of seeing my future nephew and his heartbeat on the ultrasound monitor. The thought of it still moves me to near tears.
Saturday: Saturday mass with the family, the community event (see above) with friends, discotheque.
Sunday: I went to the zoo with family. Italian zoos are much like American zoos, but the Italian women like to dress up for the occasion:

Sunday, continued: After the zoo, we went to the lake. I sunbathed on the beach while the family went out on a boat. (I needed some quality time with my book and the sun.)
Monday: I slept all day. I got up for dinner at 8pm, and then went promptly back to bed.
Tuesday: Email, blog, nap.
Tonight: Dinner with friends.
Life is good.

Oh, what I wouldn't give to sleep all day and get up for dinner and then go back to bed. That sounds like heaven.
And suddenly my trip to Cold Stone today doesn't seem as impressive...
Everybody:
:)
(My best Italian smile!)
