646. Pausing before going.

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go. I'm standing here outside your door. I hate to wake you up to say goodbye.

Life has changed significantly since my last post. I'm homeless. My stuff is in storage here in CA, and I'm staying the last few days in the US with my best friends before my multi-month European sojourn--this is a change from my original plans to drive out and store my things in Louisville before flying out to Europe.

I am blessed to have amazing, caring, and honest friends. They got my back and kick me in the ass when I fail to do what's in my best interest, when I charge forward just for its sake rather than my well-being.

I feel relieved in my decision to postpone my drive out.

I'm going to lay low, sleep, read, and prepare for my European escapade. Although I'm disappointed that my blog won't have roadside Louisville destination stories at this time, I feel renewed energy and enthusiasm for the other adventure.

A lesson I learned long ago resurfaced in new form (one of many this past week, actually): It's best to choose quality over quantity, even with adventures. I was spreading myself too thin... for what and at what cost?

Last Friday morning in the shower, I sang You Can't Hurry Love. The next day, a friend started singing the song, and instead of telling them about the synchronicity, I joined in. What a lovely song to bring back my old blog feature, janelle renée song of the day. You can't hurry love, life, or anything that's worth anything. Here's to taking everything important slow and slowly with thoughtful consideration and trust:

You Can't Hurry Love
, by The Supremes

I need love, love
To ease my mind
I need to find, find someone to call mine
But mama said

You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said love don't come easy
Its a game of give and take

You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
You got to trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes

But how many heartaches
Must I stand before I find a love
To let me live again
Right now the only thing
That keeps me hangin' on
When I feel my strength, yeah
It's almost gone
I remember mama said:

You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said love don't come easy
It's a game of give and take

How long must I wait
How much more can I take
Before loneliness will cause my heart
Heart to break?

No I can't bear to live my life alone
I grow impatient for a love to call my own
But when I feel that i, I can't go on
These precious words keeps me hangin' on
I remember mama said:

You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said love don't come easy
It's a game of give and take

You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes

No, love, love, don't come easy
But I keep on waiting
Anticipating for that soft voice
To talk to me at night
For some tender arms
To hold me tight
I keep waiting
I keep on waiting
But it ain't easy
It ain't easy
But mama said:

You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said to trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes

You can't hurry love
No, you just have to wait
She said love don't come easy
It's a game of give and take

I'll let that song run through my head for the rest of the day as well :)

One of the best things about having friends is that they offer good points of view that you may not have thought of yourself, or given enough weight to. Of course, if they let you crash on their couch, they're even better friends!

Thank you, I forgot all about this song. Love it.

About how many posts per week are we looking at now that you're going to Europe?

The first time I read you, you were commenting on the mannaquins in European stores. Your posts are so frequently entrancing and entertaining and I know your coming adventures will continue to be so...time permitting of course!

Bon Voyage, ma amie!

All this is going to result in fewer blog posts for me to read, isn't it? Me me me!

Kate: It's a good song. Must've been raised in a nice home.

Jeff: My friends have a spare bed with one of those fancy memory foam mattresses! They are off-the-chart friends.

Chauncy: You're welcome.

I don't know the answer to your question. I plan to blog often, but the way my plans have been working out lately, who knows. OYE!

Mike: YOU! YOU! YOU!
