Falling to sleep last night, I heard a soft explosion. Whenever I hear this familiar sound I wonder, backfire or gunshot? I then decide that I prefer, and therefore heard, backfire.
Tonight, while reading yesterday's newspaper, I learned an interesting fact will save me the trouble of wondering worry or worrying wonder:
If it explodes, it's maple.
Who knew? Not me!

[Update]
Upon further reading of yesterday's paper tonight, I discovered that Orlando Harding mistakenly thinks he introduces Oakland's first superhero in his new comic book Pariah.
Um, may I direct you to my nifty Beta Blogger label below, aptly named: "Janelle is a superhero"? (If a nifty Blogger label isn't proof enough, you can click it.)
I'm not worried about superhero competition. The Bay Area is big enough for several more superheros, if you ask me. In fact, I won't even hold a grudge that Orlando Harding no longer lives in Oakland (he's in Arizona!), or that his superhero David fell from the heavens into my lake, Lake Merritt.** I'm big like that. I am a superhero afterall.
In all seriousiness, I think I'm going to read Pariah. It looks like it might be a very good comic book. Being a superhero and all, I'm for continuing education. Who knows? I'm not an old dog just yet, maybe I can learn something new.

* It's not your imagination! I did change the wording of my post title. I like it better now.
** Fire in the hole, there's a label below! For Lake Merritt.
I like labels. A lot. Bunches, in fact. Can you tell?
