264. A Me Thing.

I caught the tail end of A Guy Thing on TV last night. It was even funnier than I remembered when I first saw it on DVD.

In fact, this seems true for most comedies I catch--often from the middle or end--on TV. It's like the commercials turn them into a box of chocolate truffles. You can savor the 5 or 6 scenes as little pieces of yum, take a little (imposed) break, and come back for more. A box of truffles doesn't taste as good consumed in one uninterrupted sitting. Believe me, I know.

Of course, this isn't true for other movies, especially great ones. Rest stops can ruin some emotional journeys.

I also find that if I own the movie, commercials are insufferable. The only recourse is to throw my copy into the DVD player.

Speaking of movies-- Oscar Party! I'm picking up 2 large Zachary pizzas and going to friends tonight to watch the delicious Jon Stewart. Talk about a box of truffles. Yum.

I've never actually eaten in the restaurant proper; I always do their take-out. So, I don't know if they have a number system or not. It is certainly confusing going in there the first few times--it's so crowded and there's a definite secret society thing going on. I still get intimidated when I go in there!

First, I hope you ordered half-baked pizzas early in the day. They get so busy on Oscar Sunday.

Secondly, please don't be intimidated by them. The last time I went into Zachary's (which was just a couple weeks ago), the employees were super competent and super helpful. When the owners sold the place to the employees a couple years ago, I think the only change that happened is that the service got better.

Zachary's is good in all ways.

I hope you got the spinach mushroom.

Mike, I think you are going to be impressed: I went in, ordered and paid for the pizzas first thing in the morning (well, when they opened). They had them fully baked and ready for me right when I needed them! They are good people.

That's good to know about the dining-in experience. I'll give it a try.

Spinach mushroom? Of course! I also got the Zachary Special (I think that's what it's called)--sausage, bell pepper and onion. Good stuff.
