739. Clean it up and move on.

The language school that hired me still had yet to give me a work schedule when I arrived for training last week. They didn't get the client load they had anticipated when they hired me back in the summer. So, last Wednesday, frustrated and eager to start making money, I contacted another language school that teaches at a company where one of my Italian friends works. The next morning I had an interview; that afternoon I returned for training and was presented with next week's work schedule. Phew.

..........
I may have mentioned that my sister is pregnant. She is 30 weeks along. Outside of myself--I've been pregnant twice, but I miscarried both at 3 months--I've never been this close to a pregnant woman before, and for so long.

Procreation is a mind-blowing thing. My sister is walking around with a kicking, hick-upping, wriggling being in her belly. This kid is hardly ever still. I fully expect him to come out with his own yoga gear; I'm convinced he's teaching a class with at least 2 students in there.

The first several times I witnessed him contorting her belly I was absolutely grossed out and wished that I had never seen the movie Alien. (A baby wouldn't, I mean, there has never been a case of a baby bursting forth through the abdominal wall now, right?)

Luc, my 6 year old nephew, got sick last night. He didn't make it to the toilet and covered 70% of the bathroom floor with vomit. Since his dad is on vacation in the Canary Islands with my oldest nephew, and I wouldn't let my sister clean it up in her condition, I had the nasty honor. I never cleaned up somebody else's barf before, and realized that if parenting is in my future, so is more barf. Upon this realization the task at hand became less of an event than when I first started. Barf happens, too. Clean it up and move on.
