Woot! I don't have to drive out to the Earth's edge (where Stockton, California is located) to retrieve documents. As Neel and Sleep helpfully suggested in the comment section of the last post, I ordered the docs online.
The process, however, is not completely hassle-free. I need to notarize the document saying that I am indeed who I claim to be (I am, aren't I?) and fax it off to the County. Before I do that, I need to get to a computer to print out said form. Since my MacBook laptop doesn't like to be weighed down by peripherals--she's haughty like that--I have 2 options: go onto my friend's PC in the next room, or drive to the design studio in the next town where my lightning fast G5 is resting peacefully next to a printer.
Both options are equally undesirable. But hey, it's 8 o'clock in the morning, I've had my cup of coffee, and I'm feeling pretty dern sprightly. In fact, I'm feeling unstoppable. Mostly.

Man.. I didn't have to go through all of that hassle. But then, it probably varies by state.

Maybe there is more of a problem of stolen identities here in CA because of our southern neighbors... I dunno. It really wasn't as problematic as I thought it would be. The notary process took all of 10 minutes and $10. I got the certificate in 2 days. Not too shabby!
Tart: Yeah, and it's beautiful here... sunny and 68 degrees!
