I've sort of been on-call this past week for my friend who left for New York last weekend. Her mom went in for surgery for--what they thought at the time--removal of a cancerous growth. If she needed me, I was going to be on the first flight out there.
Late yesterday afternoon I got a call. Good news! My friend's mom appendix ruptured some weeks ago and a cyst formed around it. She is cancer free! She is going to be OK. Hooray!
Blessing #2: I met a friend for a walk around the lake this morning. She got a call last night that her grandfather went to the hospital because his heart was acting crazy-- his heart rate wouldn't slow down. She got a call this morning pre-walk: It happens that 2 of his heart's major arteries were clogged. Had he not gone into the hospital, he could've suffered a major heart attack. He, too, is going to be OK.
Life's unpredictability: sometimes a curse, sometimes a blessing. You never know.
