The morning started out Fun. Willie is visiting a friend in San Francisco, and we met today for a bite to eat at a arty cafe in the City. Canvas Cafe. Have you heard of it?
Beautiful paper dropped ceiling creates a wonderful atmosphere
in San Francisco's Canvas Café.
(Note to self: go back at night.)
Willie doesn't look a thing like his profile pic:
Then again, I don't either.
I had the honor of looking at his art first hand, because he brought two of his sketch books. In person, his art comes more to life. I was very impressed. This man needs an art representative!
More enjoyable than his art, was the artist. He is caring and kind. He, too, is going through a life transition, and has several under his belt. I appreciated his words based in experience: Transitions are tough and uncomfortable, but good stuff comes out of them.
I think I'll replace his words with the mantra that's been going through my head lately: Transitions are icky, and god, I hope this isn't permanent.
Busy:
I had to dash from San Francisco for a brief meeting. I had 2 more that followed. Let's just say, I'm happy that tonight I'll be fun-busy: I'm meeting a friend for a local live band performance. The Unravellers. The band rocks (and the guys are cute!). I hired them a couple of years ago for an opening we had. I still have clients ask me who the band was that I hired for the opening we had 2 years ago!
H-o-t:
Driving back to the studio along Grizzly Peak from my last meeting in the Berkeley Hills, my car told me it was 103 degrees! Good God! Somebody needs a good talking to. This is the Bay Area. The Bay Area's initials are B.A. for a good reason and not by accident!
B=Brrr! and A = Ahhh.... Brrrrr!
The image is blurry, because it's so freakin' hot!
My camera doesn't like the heat.
It's blurry, too, because I didn't take a very good picture.

Blue:
I'm feeling slighty blue. I am participating in a blogfest. (Yay!) Only I'm in CA and the others are somewhere in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. I'm being IM'd in, and somebody wisely suggested that I'd get a web cam. It dawned on me that I'd want to see my Far, Far Away friends, too. Video only works one way, right?
Stupid technology. It better watch out. My Bad Design of the Week feature is airing (sometime) tomorrow (or the next day) and Stupid Technology is on My List.

Michael Bolton's song I said I Loved You, But I Lied is currently playing. R hates it. His analytical brain couldn't compute the lyrics which go something like this: I said I loved you, but I lied, because this is more than love I feel inside.
Every time the song comes on, and if he's around, I ask R why he hates it so. (We are both at the studio right now, so I'm writing this post-R-discussion.) I know why he does, but it's fun to hear him rant about the illogicalness of a sappy love song I like.
Tonight, R used this analogy to explain his frustration to me: "It's like somebody saying 'I'm the best in the class.' They have the top grade. But then they come back to you and say, 'No, wait. I lied. I'm not the best. I'm better than the best.'"
Well, if you put it that way, it doesn't make much sense. Does it?
I still like the sappy thing.

I didn't mean to imply that the people on the other end of your blogfest shouldn't have webcams too. It SHOULD be two-way.
It was just me being a dult, Mike. It was a great/wise recommendation, and I hope my blog friends get web cams, too!
I think Tonya is planning on getting one.
I'm so glad I made the fun part of your day! It was so great to meet you and talk under the orange paper sky. :-) Hope you have a glorious week! I'm back in way hot Dallas. Oy.
maybe he hates the song because it's michael freakin' bolton? ;)
Rrramone: Thank you! It was fun, and great meeing you, too. Maybe next time, M. T. will join us!
M. T.: When you come and visit, we'll go to the orange paper sky cafe. But only after you throw rose tea on my feet.
Jeff! Yes, that is the other reason why. You are so perceptive!
I have to agree with the comment about Michael Bolton. It must be a chick thing. :-) And I would love to meet MT too. I'm just so rarely in Madison. ;-)
I'm not fond of Michael Bolton either. His voice has a cheese grater affect on my ears. I just like that one sappy song of his.
