Last night I watched Ellie Parker, a semi-autobiographical story produced by Naomi Watts. This isn't a movie review, but I'll just say that Watts is an amazing actress. The movie was done pretty well, too. Would I rent it again? Probably not.
Ellie Parker's boyfriend is an immature wanna-be musician. She stays with him to avoid the loneliness of singlehood. I became increasingly frustrated with the Ellie character. I wondered why women (and men) stay in relationships where they are obviously in the parental role. There is the psychological reason, codependence (the unhealthy "I take care of you, you take care of me" unspoken agreement), but could an unacknowledged biological drive to parent be another reason?
Hm...
