The past many months, in order to focus all janelle renée energy on getting stuff done and/or blogging, I've purposefully ignored politics. Also, I'm sick of this administration. I'm trying the if-I-ignore-them-maybe-they-will-go-away trick. In case you haven't noticed, it's not working. (I'm doing my best, people!)
Some stories were too funny to ignore. (It's a link to what some idiot* had to say about this particular story. I could only read through the 2nd paragraph. That's how badly he bugs me. Plus, we have history. So, how much can you stand to read of it?)
Lately, one has been too puzzling too ignore--not that I've done the slightest bit of research or reading-up to know what this is all about or to know how far it goes down into the bunny hole. Bush wants to legalize the illegal workers in this country? What?!
More importantly: Why?
The reason given--that he is from Texas and is more intimate with the issues--sounds good on the surface. That is until you remember (1) he's W, (2) he's W, and (3) he's W. (If you need elaboration--doubtful--see below.**)
The most interesting and out-there (yet likely?) answer I came up with for my little why question is: It is the first step to legally recruiting them into the Iraq War and future wars in the making. (I'm sure I'm not the first to have thought this!)
Our troops are still fighting and dying in a losing battle in the Middle East. Judging the ever-changing PR military recruitment campaign, our young women and men aren't as eager to be all they can be in the army of one.
We know what Bush really meant by the phrase "No Child Left Behind" when the namesake bill made it a requirement for all schools receiving federal money to surrender student information to military recruiters.
As retarded and evil as this administration is, it does think and plan ahead.
Mexicans: Beware.
Canadians: You, too.

*From the documentary Left of the Dial (rent it!), Al Franken said: Some people have asked, "Why O' Franken Factor"? One reason and one reason only. To annoy and bait Bill O' Reilly.
It's a noble, yet easily achievable goal.
**(1) He's W -- His loyalty is to Self, Family, and Corporate Friends. All W-motivation stems from this fact alone.
(2) He's W -- He is not a humanitarian. (See #1.)
(3) He's W -- Well, just look at him.
