308. Pedro.

There have been at least two famous Pedros in cinematic history. The most recent Pedro ran for President (high school class) in Napoleon Dynamite.

Do you know who the first was? (Well, I'm calling him the first, please send corrections via e-mail.)

He had a supporting role in the Taylor-Hudson-Dean 1956 flick Giant. A wonderfully fabulous movie--you Texans know what I'm talking about! It was a very progressive film (I am shocked that was made in 1956), and it is still relevant today. It highlights one of today's hot topics: immigration. More on that--possibly--later.

In Giant, Pedro only starred in two scenes, and they are the funniest scenes I have ever seen in a film. I've never seen/heard R laugh so hard, which was a delight to behold, and my explosive laughter nearly sent me to the ground.

Pedro played a turkey. We see him first being fed by Hudson and Taylor's children, twins aged 4 or 5 and a toddler. The next scene puts the children at the dining room table. It's Thanksgiving. From a high chair the toddler points at the turkey dinner (the twins have a disgusted puzzled look on their faces), and says in a cute toddler voice, "Pedro?" The grandmother, obviously oblivious to the children's faces, replies, "Yes!"

The children start howling in grief. The grandfather stabs Pedro the turkey with the carving fork and knife, and the howling gets louder. Taylor being the benevolent mother carries the children away from the dining area.

See? Didn't I tell you it was a progressive flick? Who was talking about vegetarian principles in 1956--well, not me, considering my mother was only 6--but who, I ask?

I guess it's movie review month at Just Thoughts. I love to hear your thoughts, too!

PS I'm a happier janelle renée even though it is STILL raining. (Grrrr.... ) A mocha and Cayenne with a touch of basil does wonders for the spirit. Here's a toast to mocha wishes and Cayenne dreams... and hoping that you have a great day, too.

Hmmmmmmm, just all movied out over here. BUT, the mocha, Cayenne, basil sounds delightful.

Maybe!!! You could provide this fancy mix to our Man of little Cuppa and he could skip Jury Duty, yes/no?

Still raining? Have a groovy week!

Smooch,

Tart--I think our Man of Little Cuppa can't handle mocha, Cayenne, and basil. My existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to Man of Little Cuppa, saves lives...He doesn't want the mocha, Cayenne, and basil. Hey! I don't know what happened with that comment. It took on a life of its own. Sorry, folks and Cuppa.

STILL RAINING!!!!

Smooch back at ya.

Willie-- Golly!
