OK, blog readers. It's time I let you in on the Big Thing going on in my life, because I know I'll want to write about the stuff that comes out of the Big Thing, and it wouldn't be fair to mention it in passing.
"Whoa, did she just say... I thought..."
So here it is:
R and I are separating.
Yes, it's sad. Most break-ups, split-ups, and separations are. But, we've had a lot of time to deal with it, and we are in a very good place. We are going to stay business partners and the best of friends. (Knock on wood!)
And I'm fine. Really. I have my days; I'm only human. But I'm really excited about my future. Lately, I've been thinking that--from where I sit--Angelina Jolie is a great role model for me. Up until Brad, and maybe still, she did her own thing, lived her own life, even adopted children on her own.
That's what I want. Until I'm ready for something more.

I think Angelina is a good role model too. Sorry to hear about it, but sometimes these things are for the best. It sounds like you are still going to be friends, so that is good.

Separations are a drag, but I must say that I'm always pleased when I hear women say that they want to be more like Angelina Jolie. I fully support you in this endeavor.

OK...just a small funny thought: go out and buy a very expensive lipstick & make Mike buy you a very expensive dinner... I bet he could get a lot of money for his cuppa on eBay... second thought.. maybe he should just give us the money & we can have a girls night out. ; )

So, I totally didn't see this coming. I mean, you mentioned "things" a while back, but this is not what I think of when I hear generic terms. Let me know if I can help in any way.
Also, because I'm selfish like that, is this changing your NY trip, etc? (Cause I'm excited)
My apologies for not knowing either one of you, but I speak from experience that even the most amicable separation can be difficult. My best wishes for a speedy "recovery"
